Elections
The Mayor and six council members are elected to their positions as Alderman for the City of Hartford. The Mayor serves at large and there are two council members representing each of the three Wards in the City, for a total of six council members. NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION
MUNICIPALITY OF HARTFORD
Notice is hereby given that no Municipal Election will be held on the 8th day of April, 2025, in Hartford, South Dakota.
The election for which public notice was given has been cancelled because the following individuals have filed a nominating petition in the office of the Finance Officer for the position to be filled:
Arden Jones – Mayor Two Year Term
Ryan Horn – Councilmember – Ward 1 Two Year Term
Shaun Boen – Councilmember – Ward 2 Two Year Term
Michelle Edgecomb-Schilling – Councilmember – Ward 3 Two Year Term
Because these candidates are unopposed, certificates of election will be issued in the same manner as a successful candidates after election.
No nominating petitions were received for the position of Ward 2 Councilmember (1yr term). Therefore, this vacancy will be filled by appointment.
